Locally-sourced fish, hand-cut chips, minted mushy peas... there are many reasons why Fishminster is a cut above the rest when it comes to fish and chips. The chunky homemade fishcakes are one-of-a-kind too. Reasonably priced, not at all greasy – and the only chippie I've been to where your order comes served with a lemon wedge as well as the usual salt'n'vinegar. Divine!

Fishminster in North Street is probably the best fish and chip shop in Bedminster. They take great quality fish and cook it up in a crispy and delicious batter. Their chips are great as well, and all the traditional side dishes are available. Has to be tried.

ReportDespite a few changes Fishminster remains a favourite with myself and my family. The service and range of fishy food on offer is exemplary and their cod reminds me of the fish we used to get at our local chippy when I was a lad (and all this were fields, 'eee!). The breaded Calamari is a particular treat being cooked to perfection as squid should be. The Whitebait is equally good and their chips taste like chips should. All in all an all round decent local takeaway.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer to a point. I have been going to Fishminster since they opened there doors last year and have enjoyed many a good fish and chip supper. How ever over the last few months the same can not be said. There fish has steadily got smaller and greasier the chips dont taste as fresh and I think they have become far too complacent with how good they think they are.
I would also question if the fish is as fresh as they claim it to be as on more than one occasion (living directly behind them) I have seen the frozen fish van delivering boxes of fish, sustainable and from Devon, maybe. Fresh no chance!
The service I have received on every occasion though has been second to none.
Fishminster is now famous across Bristol for being the best fish and chip shop around. They take something weve all had hundreds of time before and make it the very best quality. They serve only freshly caught fish in gorgeous crispy batter and quality homemade chips, all served in a nice neat, classy little box so that you can eat it where and whenever you like. They pride themselves on their original take on this British classic and have become massively popular with good reason, well done!
