The Bristol City Supporters Trust has received a £265.64 donation from Asda Bedminster’s petrol station.

According to Asda’s calculations, the average Bristol City fan would save around a penny per mile during the 534 mile round trip to the home ground of furthest opponents Middlesbrough FC by filling up their tanks at the petrol station at its East Street store.

To demonstrate how these small savings add up, bosses at Asda Bedminster have made a donation of £5.34 for each of the 46 games Bristol City will play during the season to the team’s Supporters Trust, which adds up to a grand total of £245.64 to spend in store.

Stuart Rogers, Chair of Bristol City Supporters Trust, said: "We are really grateful to Asda for this donation and are looking forward to passing on the benefit to Bristol City fans this season.

“Following your club can be a costly business and it all helps."

Ian Russell, General Store Manager for Asda Bedminster, said: “Saving money is a priority for all of us during these tough financial times.

“By using this donation to fill their trolleys here, we hope these Bristol City fans will see first-hand just how far savings made by also filling their tanks here can go.”
