Baby kangaroos? oh......I geddit!! Being taken back home by the local bobby was probably more effective in the 50s because when you listen to people who were children then, your parents took what the bobby said as gospel and were equally annoyed with you. Now it seems we hear alot of "my boy would never do that"! and the police are more likely to get an earful from the parents than the child is.

Caught by a local bobby [ back in the 50s ] playing marbles on this bridge with my brother. To our dismay he took us into custody and marched us both home [ we lived in cumberland road ] and grassed on us to mum and dad who were livid with both of us. Of course old fashioned police work did have the desired result and now i thank the said bobby very much. I wonder from time to time if good old fashioned police work still occurs? hope so! We sometimes used to stand on that bridge and count the baby kangaroos floating out to sea.. you can work that one out! Sometimes a convoy of Tanks would be driven down to the city docks along our road, probably to be shipped out to the war in Korea...got to go coffee pot is a bubblin...
