POLICE are going back to school for their latest Relentless initiative, which aims to keep children and young people safe.

The campaign will see officers out and about at schools, youth clubs and parks, offering crime prevention advice to youngsters on the issues most likely to affect them, such as bullying, anti-social behaviour and personal safety.

One of the first events yesterday was an anti-bullying workshop at Bedminster Down School run by Dave Gauder, who is a record-breaking strong man who can pull a fire engine.

He runs an anti-bullying campaign because he was bullied himself when he was at school.

Children from Headley Park, Parson Street and Cheddar Grove schools also attended the event.

Police will be spending time over the next three months unveiling a host of activities which aim to promote personal safety for children and young people – whether at home, at school, in the streets or on the road.

Officers will be targeting youth-related crime and anti-social behaviour, as well as dealing with prolific young offenders.

Planned activities include regular truancy sweeps, DJ lessons for young people in Wincanton and a joy-riding talk in Clevedon.
