Everybody has a story to tell regarding a letter that’s been lost in the post.  However, the exclusive launch party for previous customers of a Bristol furniture store has been thrown open to everyone after 25,000 personalised invitations went missing.

The invitations to celebrate the expansion of Park Furnishers in Willway Street, Bedminster were sent last week – but now the store has found that none have been received!

Special customer previews of the newly-expanded store were being held on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 December but following the mysterious disappearance of the invitations the management have decided to extend the invitation to everyone.

With plenty of drinks and mince pies plus the singers from the Great Western Chorus all ordered the store is going ahead with the party, which celebrates the 50% expansion of the store, including the addition of several new departments selling carpets, pictures and mirrors, linens, cook shop, fitted kitchen ranges and bedroom furniture.

The public opening was planned for Saturday 18th but now everyone can join in the fun on Thursday and Friday – originally planned as events for loyal customers.

Partygoers will be treated to performances by the Great Western Chorus - the British Association of Barbershop Singers’ 2010 Champions – who will be popping up in every department before joining together to perform a rousing concert of festive songs on the store’s famous staircase between 6pm and 8pm on both evenings.

The disaster comes after a seamless expansion by the store, which has kept on schedule throughout, since the announcement in August this year.

Marketing manager Paul Marshall said: “It was a nightmare when we realised that none of the 25,000 invitations had been received by our customers but now we’ve just got to deal with it!

“We have organised a festive party for all our loyal customers, and we’d hate for it all to go to waste, so we’d love to invite the whole of the city along to join in with the party!

“The expansion has run really smoothly so I suppose something was bound to go wrong at some point; we are unsure at this point exactly what has happened to the invitations but we will hopefully know more in the next couple of days. For now we just hope people show up and are ready to celebrate with us!”

Paul continued: “We wanted to make a song and dance about the fact that we are now Bristol’s largest furniture store; the Great Western Chorus and the festive treats as well as our Christmas give-aways are going to really get people in the mood for Christmas so please feel free to come along and join in the spirit”
