People visiting Park Furnishers to look at kitchens may find they have to tap their feet while those wanting a sofa may get a “do-re-mi” as well!
The music is part of the celebrations to mark the store being made 50% larger. Invitations are going out to former customers to join in the celebrations at special preview days on December 16 and 17 with everyone invited to join in the fun on Saturday December 18.
Barbershop harmony groups from the Great Western Chorus – the British Association of Barbershop Singers’ 2010 Champions – will be popping up in every department before the chorus join together to perform a rousing concert of festive songs on the store’s famous staircase between 6pm and 8pm on December 16 and 17.
The family-run store has increased in size by 50% and is hosting the events to showcase the store’s expanded range of products.
Customers will be able to enjoy mulled wine and festive treats while the Great Western Chorus provide the atmosphere with festive favourites.
Park Furnishers marketing manager Paul Marshall said: “We really want to make a song and dance about the fact that we have the biggest furniture store in Bristol and we have created room for new departments for carpets, pictures and mirrors, linens, cook shop, fitted kitchen ranges and bedroom furniture.
“We have taken on board ideas from our customers on what they wanted to see us sell and created whole new exciting sections.
“We have tried to cause as little disruption as possible during the expansion but this event will give us the chance to thank our customers for their patience and display our new and improved product range.
“The Great Western Chorus is the pride of Bristol as far as harmony singing is concerned and it will help everyone get in the mood for Christmas.”
The expansion at the store in Willway Street, Bedminster has been made possible by Park Furnishers taking a warehouse unit in Avonmouth, where stock can be stored. It freed up storage space at the rear of the store to create a bigger sales area.
