Park Furnishers Expands by 50%

One of Bristol’s oldest family-run businesses is expanding its base in Bedminster by 50%, despite the current economic climate.

 

Park Furnishers in Willway Street, Bedminster acquired 55,000 sq ft of new warehouse space in Avonmouth earlier this year, leaving room for the existing retail space to grow in size.

 

The new area will offer among other things Bristol’s largest choice of leather and soft upholstered suites and sofas, new fitted kitchen ranges and bedroom department and a clearance area which will feature discounted floor models and managers’ special offers.

 

Work on the project has continued to stay on schedule meaning the extended space will be ready by the middle of December, in time for the annual winter sale.

 

Owned and run by the Coller family since 1967, Park Furnishers is Bristol’s best known independent furniture store.

 

The new warehouse space will mean quicker and more efficient deliveries for customers while the new floor space will mean Park Furnishers can offer related products to compliment the existing furniture range.

 

Managing director Tim Coller said: “Extensive customer research has shown that there is a demand for Park Furnishers to branch out in terms of products, but it was still important for us to preserve the spacious feel of the store and the high levels of customer care and after sales service we are known for.

 

“By increasing the store’s retail space by 50%, we are now able to satisfy our customers’ needs without sacrificing the core family values that make it a destination store that many customers return to again and again.”

 

The aim of the development was to integrate the old and new, with the new to include bed linens, table linens, soft furnishings and cookware as well as lighting, pictures, mirrors and accessories.

 

Tim continued: “This is the most important development in the company’s history since it moved to Willway Street in 1977. In these bleak times it is fantastic that Bristolians are still behind us and still regard us as the best furniture store in the city.”
