Malago WI to screen 'Age of Stupid' at the Tobacco Factory
The group will show Pete Postlethwaite's The Age of Stupid, which organisers say should provoke lively discussion as it "poses questions about our current behaviour and its impact on the environment".
Malago WI has signed up to the 10:10 campaign, which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 10% in 2010 by encouraging individuals, businesses, schools, universities, colleges and other organisations to take part in the initiative.
The group has organised the screening as part of its ongoing look at environmental issues. In the Age of Stupid, Pete Postlethwaite stars as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 and asking: why didn't we stop climate change when we had the chance?
The screening will be held tonight at 7.30pm for 8pm in the Green Room at the Tobacco Factory, Raleigh Road, Southville.
Tickets are £3.50 and can be bought on the door, subject to availability.
There will be plenty of time for a drink and chat afterwards, too.
