By brookenolan | Monday, September 07, 2009, 14:30
The Avonbelles are set to delight shoppers in Broadmead as they perform classic hits in their unique barbershop style.
The group is made up of ladies from all walks of life, all of who share one common interest – making music and having fun, and they are bringing their music to the streets of Broadmead on September 12th to entertain shoppers and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care.
Avonbelle’s Chairman, Pearl Conway, said: “We’ve performed in Broadmead once before, at The Mall Bristol back when it was known as The Galleries. It was a great success so we are very excited about returning to Broadmead for a second concert.
“I hope we’ll raise some money for Macmillan and put smiles on the faces of Broadmead’s shoppers.”
Originally formed in 1975 the Avonbelles have performed throughout the South West including the World Wine Fair, Longleat Safari Park, and Colston Hall.
Jo Hawkins, Broadmead Project Manager, said: “We are always keen to have music on the streets of Broadmead and the Avonbelles will no doubt brighten up the day of even the most tired shoppers!
“They have a fantastic reputation throughout the Bristol area and we are very excited to have them perform at Broadmead.”
From pop classics such as ‘9-5’ and ‘It’s raining men’ to jazz standards like ‘Moon River’ the Avonbelles will without doubt get you tapping your feet as you sample the shopping delights that Broadmead has to offer.
The Avonbelles will be performing from 1.30pm-2.00pm and 2.30pm-3.00pm outside Marks & Spencer on the pedestrianised area, Broadmead West.
