AN independent furniture store in Bristol is planning to expand into other parts of the region after setting up its own warehouse and distribution centre.
Park Furnishers, which is based in Bedminster, has moved its warehousing and storage department into a 52,000-square feet warehouse in Avonmouth.
Jonathan Allen, of joint agents Colliers International, who completed the deal, said: “This means Park Furnishers can go ahead with some ambitious expansion plans.
“The site was strategically chosen so that it can serve the whole region as well the existing store in Bedminster.
“Being close to the M5 was a key factor in the move and Park Furnishers has already fitted out the new warehouse and moved stock into it.”
Tim Coller, managing director of Park Furnishers, said: “Until now we had 75,000 square feet of showroom and 35,000 square feet of storage behind the scenes at Willway Street.
“Moving the storage to Avonmouth means we are now beginning work on expanding the store at Bedminster.
“For the first time, we are also looking around the region for suitable sites to open other Park Furnishers stores.
“We expect to have the enlarged Bedminster store open by December and we will be able to announce other stores when suitable sites are found.” Park Furnishers is a family business started by greengrocer Len Coller, who began selling tables as a sideline from his shop in Sandy Park Road.
The business is now run by Mr Coller’s grandchildren.
