The Princess of Wales pub in Bedminster is rolling out the red carpet today for a special celebration of the Royal Wedding.

The landlady, Sue Davis, has pulled out all the stops to put on a pub party worthy of royalty, with no detail overlooked, right down to the Foxes royal mints.
The flags and bunting went up yesterday around the photos of Diana, the ‘Middleton to Windsor’ beers are chilling in the fridges, the bubbly is on ice – and there’s even a life-size cut-out of the royal couple to great the guests.
Raffle prizes – commemorative books, Union Jack money boxes and other memorabilia – have been wrapped as wedding gifts and the buffet will feature the wedding favourite, salmon.
And the guests at the invitation-only occasion will be dressed in their wedding-best.
Sue said: “The pub will be closed and it will be invited guests only.
“We want to look after our regulars and we want to celebrate.”
They certainly are looking after their regulars. Some of them might be better called ‘veterans’ – ladies in their 90s who have been regulars at the Princess of Wales pub for decades.
There’s extra special treatment in store for these ladies: Sue has set aside part of the pub for them as a ‘Royal box’ so they get the best view of the ceremony as it unfolds on the big TVs, and bought them all tiaras for the occasion.
“We’re really looking forward to the day,” said Sue. “We’d be very pleased to have Kate as the next Princess of Wales.”
