Bedminster book club welcomes new members

A book club that meets monthly in The Victoria Park pub on Raymend Road is hoping to welcome new members to its next meeting, at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 22 March 2011.

The book club is run by Matthias Mueller, a writer and publisher who lives locally. The club usually meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7.30pm, but – as you’ll note from the arrangements for March’s meeting – the date and time is pretty flexible so that as many members as possible can pop along.

Matthias says the club has a good mix of boys and girls and welcomes readers of all genres!

And if you like the idea of relaxing and socialising with fellow reading enthusiasts but don’t have the time to read a weighty tome each month, don’t worry; you’re unlikely to find War and Peace or Clarissa on the reading list.

Matthias said: “Every month someone new gets to choose a book.

“We try to keep the length under 200 pages as people are busy with work, kids, etc. but again we are flexible on this if someone has strong feelings about a book.

“We are currently on our fifth book, The Commitments by Roddy Doyle.”
