Southville Neighbourhood Policing Team has donated a number of unwanted bicycles to a Windmill Hill City Farm youth group to use in their bike maintenance class.
The classes take place in the adventure playground at Windmill Hill City Farm on Wednesdays, from 4pm to 6pm.
Students can learn how to restore bikes and carry out maintenance to keep them in good working order.
PC Ingram, the local Beat Manager, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for teenagers within the local community to restore the bicycles with the focus being on safety and taking responsibility for looking after their own bikes.”
The Neighbourhood Policing Team also gave the youth group a number of cycle immobitags. This electronic marking and tracing system features a small tag that fits into the seat tube on your bike. You register the details on your personal account at www.immobilise.com.
The tracking system increases the chance of your bike being recovered if it is stolen.
