The summer holidays are officially over: the kids are back at school, most of us are back to work, and Christmas still seems a long way off.  If the very thought of it all stresses you out, treating yourself to some ‘me-time’ in our local salons is just the way to deal with it, I think!

Here’s a sample of what’s on offer in the greater Bedminster area.

Holistic & Beauty Therapy

Hibiscus in North Street offers spa and holistic therapies using natural Thai remedies and the herbal spa range ‘Erb’ to promote wellbeing in mind, body and soul.

Hibiscus offers holistic body massages, reflexology, aromatherapy and hot stone massages, as well as the full range of salon beauty treatments such as spray tanning (Fake Bake), waxing (including male waxing treatments), facials, and hand and nail treatments.

Run by Alexandra, a trained nurse and holistic therapist, Hibiscus offers a discount for nurses.

A local practitioner of Karunavapi Holistic massage therapy is based in nearby Pearl Street and offers aromatherapy treatments for women – for contact details, see here.

Beauty Salons

The Beauty Lounge offers beauty treatments including waxing (Brazilian and Hollywood, and waxing treatments for men), St Tropez tanning, inch loss bodyworks, and Jessica nail treatments.

The Beauty Lounge also offers Dermalogica’s facial treatments and stocks its products.

Further up North Street, The Salon offers a full range of spa and beauty treatments from waxing to holistic therapies and caters for both men and women, including manicures, pedicures, body treatments and tanning, facials, eye treatments, holistic treatments and sports massages. It also stocks Dermalogica products. Brides-to-be can take advantage of The Salon’s wedding packages.

At this end of North Street, you’ll  also find The Beauty Room, which, as well as the full range of facial and body treatments and waxing for men and women, offers specialised treatments for non surgical facelifts and body liposculpture.

Alternative Health and other therapies

Workplace tension – whether it’s caused by your boss, your colleagues or just sitting for hours in front of a computer! – can take quite a toll on your posture, leading to aches, pains and problems with your neck and back.

Paul Jackson is an osteopath one of my friends has recommended to me. Together with other local practitioners, he works at the Centre for Whole Health in Bedminster, which also offers acupuncture, homeopathy, kinesiology and yoga classes.

And if you think that your mind, rather than just your body and soul, could do with soothing, there are various therapists based in and around Bedminster who might be able to help you.

A popular one is Barry Horton who runs Never2Late, offering Life Confidence Coaching to help people deal with self-esteem and confidence issues.

So go on, treat yourself!
