A daytime ban on most traffic on East Street is now being enforced by the police.

Although the new traffic order came into effect last month, for the first few weeks, police were stopping and warning drivers about the new order.
They will now be enforcing it fully and taking action against anyone breaking the new regulations.
Parking Services will also be patrolling the area to deal with any parked vehicles in East Street.
The local neighbourhood police team was out in force yesterday on East Street as part of a ‘day of action’ to hand out information leaflets to warn shoppers about the new traffic regulations.
The whole length of East Street will be designated a pedestrian zone between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
During those hours, only buses and delivery vans are permitted to enter East Street.
Even taxis and vehicles with disabled drivers or passengers are not allowed to enter East Street during those times, but there are designated car parking bays for disabled badge holders on side roads.
Outside those hours, i.e. from 7pm until 7am, full access to the street is permitted and so is parking in safe places.
The new traffic order also closed Mill Lane and reversed the one-way in Dean Street.
Local traders have told Bedminster People that they welcome the new pedestrian zone, believing that it will benefit shoppers and traders alike.
They also hope that permitting cars to drive down and park on East Street after 7pm will lead to an increase in the number of people visiting the street in the evenings.
What do you think? Are you pleased that East Street will become a pedestrian zone during the day? And do you think the number of people visiting East Street during the evening will increase as a result of the new traffic scheme?
