Fofoulah is a London-based group mixing Senegalese voice and west African rhythms with dub basslines, sci-fi synths, raw guitars and intense dance grooves.
The band features Senegalese vocalist Biram Seck (Suuf, Real World Artist), Tom Challenger (Red Snapper) on sax and keys, guitarist Phil Stevenson (Iness Mezel), bassist Johnny Brierley, master sabar drummer from The Gambia Kaw Secka (Irok) and Dave Smith (Robert Plant, Juju) on drums.
Bene Bop is the first studio release from Fofoulah. The EP is on Loop Records, features a Soundspecies remix and is produced by Three Trapped Tigers collaborator Matt Calvert.
IAMU – the International Arts Musically United – is a charitable project that uses World Music events to raise funds for education in some less fortunate schools around the world.
Aim: To offer 20% of each event profits to a chosen school.
