Around the M Shed and harbour on Wednesday, December 19 to Saturday, December 22...
Anyone looking for a touch of Christmas magic and sparkle is invited to visit Bristol's first-ever Harbour Wonderland event. From 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, December 19 to Saturday, December 22, evening visitors to Bristol's historic harbourside will be treated to a free, sound and light spectacle.
Harbour Wonderland will feature local choirs, illuminations, lighted braziers, themed light projections, seasonal films and a specially-commissioned animation by local artist, Kathy Hinde – inviting you to explore the area around the M Shed buildings and historic cranes. There will also be tasty, festive treats on sale from M Shed's cafe, including mince pies and spiced hot drinks.
Thanks to the city council and its partners: producers Cirque Bijou; Knowle West Media Centre, Watershed and Gathering Voices Festival of Song - local families, friends and visitors can enjoy a creative and relaxing, pre-Christmas experience on Bristol's harbourside.
Young people from south Bristol, working with Bristol filmmaker Tom Stubbs and arts charity Knowle West Media Centre, are developing a new film based on an imagined tale of 'When Bristol Froze' and focuses on the freezing over of the harbour.
Other films and animations making up the Harbour Wonderland event include railway stories made by Tom Stubbs and Knowle West Media Centre in partnership with Watershed, and Watershed's hugely popular, annual 'Electric December' project.
