Just a copy of my objection to the plans below

Re: Proposal for Planning Application 10/03955/F
Gala Social Club
North Street
Bedminster
Bristol
BS3 1EN

I object to the plans to re - open the strip of land from the end of 14 Clyde Court
down to the gates on North Street.
The aim of which seems to be to "bring this footpath back into general use"

I have lived near above address for 28 years.
This footpath was closed shortly after Clyde Court was built (many years ago).
The reason for closure was the security of the flats, church, and surrounding
houses in Clyde Terrace.
We had instances of anti- social behaviour prior to the path being closed.
There were burglaries, and anti- social behaviour.
(Mainly at night and during the day when Bristol City Football Club played at
home.)

The path at the North Street end is very dark and secluded.
I remember being apprehensive using this path when I delivered papers as a boy of 15. (1971)
If the council re-open this path I fear for the safety and security of residents and
pedestrians alike.

The plan to use Albert place has already been excluded.
This plan is just moving the problem somewhere else.
It is far safer to use the well lit main road of North Street and Cannon Street that
is in use already and has security cameras installed near the British Road end ofCannon Street.
Failing the above route,
Braunton Road is only some 20-50 yds away from the end of the path.
(still more open and over looked by residential properties.

what do others think about these proposed plans?
the results of the proposals are due on 26th jan 2011

It seems unnecessary to re-open it and is surely just asking for trouble, has the council bothered to consult the police on this idea? Who would use it anyway? I bet not many women will use it! I also bet that if they do re-open it, there will be so much anti-social behaviour and trouble that they'll end up having to close it again anyway and that will be more of our money wasted, to say nothing of the worry caused to the people who live round there.
