Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me out? Myself and partner are looking to move to Bristol from South Wales. I'll be commuting to Newport for work and we have been looking at the Bedminster area. We are foster carers and currently look after a 14 year old boy and have a 19 yr old son in Uni who lives in Cardiff. We would like to live somewhere sociable, friendly, with a good selection of shops etc near enough to walk, and hopefully no hills! Can anyone advise us if Bedminster would be good for us, and if so which are the best areas? I;d really appreciate any advice, Thanks, Lynn

Hi Lynn, Bedminster is quite near Temple Meads train station so if you were to have a look at anywhere in the BS3 area - from Lower Totterdown nearest the station, then Windmill Hill, then any of the roads off Coronation Road - you would be in walking distance of the train station. And once you get onto Coronation/York Rd it's on the level, but avoiding hills in Bristol isn't easy!!

    Hiya,

Bristol is a good place to move to, it’s god SO much going on. I love it.

In terms of where you might want to live, bedminster might suit you. Unless you live on one of the main roads (North Street, West Street, South Street and East Street) it’s fairly quiet. There is a skate park and a few regular parks around plus Ashton Court and Leigh Woods are a shortish walk away. Ah and there’s a City Farm at Windmill Hill (it’s a big one too).

It’s about 20/30 minutes walk to get to the centre and mostly flat with bumps here and there. There’s a few different parades of shops. The vibe changes depending on what part of 'Bedmo' you're in too.

I’d say it’s a great area to move to. An easy starter.

    Good luck!

Windmill Hill is a lovely part of Bedminster with a friendly and active local community and near Victoria Park which is beautiful. There are some shops on St Johns lane nearby and it's only a short walk to East Street for more shops or in the other direction across the park towards Temple Meads. the only thing that might not suit you is it is very hilly!!!

Chessels area is nice, as is Southville. Dean Lane Park (Dame Emily) has a skate park which is due to be refurbished starting any day now, and a swimming pool. Lots of things going on at the Southville Centre.

Ashton Park scholl has come up a lot.

I love bedmie, but I think it fails on one of your key criteria - it is NOT flat.

    Sorry.
