2011 local election results for Bedminster, Southville and Windmill Hill

The local election results are now in for the Bedminster,

The results are in for local elections in Bedminster, Southville and Windmill Hill
Southville and Windmill Hill wards.
The results had been expected at 2.30am this morning but
were delayed by several hours.
Colin Smith (Labour) was elected again in Bedminster, with 40.9
per cent of the vote there.
Mark Bailey (Liberal Democrats) was elected again in
Windmill Hill, taking 50.5 per cent of the vote in that ward.
Sean Beynon (Labour) was elected again in Southville, with 43.3
per cent of the vote – beating the former Green councillor for the ward,
Charlie Bolton, by 243 votes.
Turnout in all three wards was over 40 per cent.

Colin Smith (Labour) 40.9%

Doug Newton (Cons) 18.1%
Cath Slade (Green) 15%

Mark Bailey (Lib Dem) 50.5%

Bristol City Council
One third of the seats on the council were up for election
yesterday and the results mean that the Lib Dems have lost overall control of
Bristol City Council. They lost five of their 38 seats. Labour gained four seats and the Greens gained one.
The Lib Dems now have 33 seats, Labour 21 seats, the
Conservatives 14 seats and the Greens have two.
