Windmill Hill City Farm, based in Philip Street in Bedminster, is appealing for new board members.

The much-loved farm, which is free to visit, is the oldest city farm outside London.  It was set up in 1976 by a group of local residents keen to see a plot of inner city wasteland be put to use for the benefit of the local community.

The farm now offers educational and recreational facilities, including community allotment gardens, adventure playground and the opportunity to see farmyard animals and take part in craft activities.

As a charity, the farm is run by a board of volunteers. The farm is looking to strengthen the board and is specifically looking for people with financial or accounting skills, business and enterprise skills and people with experience in leading organisations.

If you think you might be interested in becoming a board member, please contact Nigel Singer on mail@nigelsinger.co.uk

Hundreds of people joined in Windmill Hill City Farm's 35th birthday celebrations earlier this month.

To mark the occasion, the farm held a free vintage-themed afternoon tea party, complete with traditional swing boats, candy floss, cream teas and Pimms.

Delighted with the party's success, the farm estimates that about 500 people turned up during the afternoon on 6 August to enjoy the animals, stalls, music and food.
