CHILDREN from Compass Point Primary School in Bedminster took part in an all-day sporting event inspired by the London 2012 Olympics.
Nearly three million children from schools across England and Wales signed up for National School Sport Week, an initiative run with the Youth Sport Trust.
Activities at Compass Point yesterday included a "wake up, shake up" aerobics session followed by a variety of sports and games including volleyball, an adapted form of golf, and a rounders-type competition.
School spokesman Paloma Venn said: "Before this week there were lots of sports the children do not normally do, but they have been able to give these a go. It has given them a heads-up on sports, they have gained a sense of achievement and all thoroughly enjoyed taking part."
