Both South Street and Ashton Gate primary schools have confirmed that they will offer extra Reception classes for the 2012 intake.
Governors from South Street School agreed to accept a 'bulge class' for September 2012 on the understanding that the buildings will be fully inspected with a view to finding a long term solution.
The school is prepared to continue providing two forms of entry from 2013 if suitable facilities and buildings can be considered and consulted on.
And Ashton Gate Primary has agreed to expand its 2012 Reception intake from two to three forms of entry.
This will be made possible by the creation of a Nursery and Reception annex on the St Francis Church site.
The plans are subject to normal planning processes and road safety improvements for the route between the main site and the annex, including a suitable road crossing on North Street.
Between the two schools, a further 60 primary school places can be created for 2012 – leaving a predicted shortfall of 38 places for children living in the greater Bedminster area.
