Police are appealing for help to identify a man who is believed to be local to the Bedminster area – but are advising people not to approach him.

It follows an incident in a city centre hotel, in which the man took goods from a maid's trolley and when confronted, produced a weapon and threatened a female member of staff.

He chased her down a corridor but she was not hurt in the incident.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who may be able to identify the suspect from the CCTV pictures.

If you think you may know who he is, please call the police on the new non-emergency telephone number: 101.
