SOME South Bristol mothers are working to restore a run down park in Bedminster back to community use.

Luckwell Park is a small green space near to the South Bristol primary school.

Although it is popular with families after school, the play equipment is very old and limited.

Local parents have managed to secure funding from the Better Bedminster Community Chest to start park improvements, kicking off with the installation of a mosaic bench, and have called the project LIMP – the Luckwell Improvement Project.

Children from the reception class at Luckwell Primary School took part in a design workshop and will see their drawings crafted into the mosaic.

Local artist David Bowers of Mosaic Madness is working with volunteers to realise the children's designs this week.

LIMP co-founder, Deborah Smith said: "The children are really excited at the prospect of seeing their designs become a permanent fixture at the park. We are hoping to start transforming the park, project by project, to make it a really nice green space that children and their families in the local area can enjoy in years to come."
