Team members at the Wilkinson store, situated on East Street, Bedminster, have kindly donated much needed gardening products to help a local agricultural charity.

As part of Wilkinsons' Helping Hands initiative and in line with the company's commitment to supporting the local communities it operates in, volunteers from the store recently visited Windmill Hill City Farm, on Philip Street, to donate the items.

The donation was made after staff from the voluntarily run farm applied to the scheme, which aims to assist local projects and charities by awarding donations, whether that's much needed monies, products or Wilkinsons' team members' time.

Wilkinsons' team members donated a variety of gardening equipment and tools from the store to help the farm staff preserve the charity's leafy surroundings, which first opened in 1976 to give the local community a farming experience in the heart of the city.

Simon Dicken, store manager at the Bedminster store, said: "At Wilkinsons, we have always been avid supporters of worthwhile causes which are active in our local area.

"As the farm is run by volunteers on a strict budget, we were more than happy to donate the gardening products as part of our Helping Hands scheme and we are sure they will be put to good use for years to come."

Beth Yarsley, farm manager at Windmill Hill City Farm, said: "Everyone is very grateful for the products as we always need more equipment to tend to the farm. We started the charity to try and make a difference to the local community and as Wilkinsons has the same aim, it made sense to apply for help."

Application forms for Helping Hands can be collected in store and submitted at the store's help desk. Successful applicants will be notified within three months of submission.
