Headteacher Kevin Jones.
Inspectors visited the 204-pupil school in January and awarded it as 'good' overall. Just 14 months ago the school was judged as inadequate.
Key findings from the report include:
- teaching is good overall with some outstanding practice and the
best lessons well planned and imaginative;
- SAT results have improved significantly
- Behaviour is good with pupils demonstrating great care to each
other and politeness to adults;
- Strong leadership means that the school is improving after a
period of underachievement
Headteacher Kevin Jones said:
"I'm delighted that inspectors have recognised, under some tough criteria, that Luckwell Primary School can give its pupils a good education. We have some excellent teachers and our job now is to ensure that standards are consistently high across all classes."
Luckwell Primary School is also celebrating recently won extra funds for facilities. The Before and After School club can now provide a "learning room" with space and equipment to help with homework thanks to the National Lottery. The school council successfully bid for £1000
from the Co-operative Group to build a vegetable garden and start up a "Plot to Plate" co-operative group - work starts on the garden this Spring.
