Cold callers Vrs the Community

Just a thought..
I know the council provides a pack for tennants that includes some information about keeping your home safe that includes one of those little stickers to put on your door to warn off cold callers and cowboy builders et al...
But whilst out on my rounds, i have noticed a uniform blue sticker on many a door in the bedmo area.. I ask one particular sticker owner where they got it from, they said a person called at the door and sold it for £2 (the person in question thought this was a fair price) , i questioned this and said "does that qualify as cold calling?"... you see where im going with that.
I have noticed high levels of these stickers and was wondering if you have too?
thanks much.

Hi Trucks79, yeah they hand them out from time to time. The neighbourhood policing team did some of the roads off of ST John's Lane earlier this year, I think.

ReportMrs_W2009 I totally forgot about the Police. I think we got one from them a number of years back

ReportYes i know it sounds like a beautiful scam, i think that's because it is one.
But what to do about it?.. some clever person has clearly made a ton of cash doing this , and i would also argue that the majority of 'buyers' were probably the older and more vulnerable in the community who feel the need for such things (imo)... :-/
Thanks for the interest, and if you could - keep an eye out for the stickers.

Reportit sounds like the people who were cold called by the sticker sellers were had on that occasion. THe police and the council give out those for free. That is pretty cynical.

Report£2.00 for a sticker? seriously? I seen them on the internet for 49p, they do work however I know someone who works as a door to door sales person for a large broadband company and he told me that the staff are told to ignore such stickers and continue to knock. so the question is do they really work?
