A leading Bristol city centre hotel has been chequeing-out the success of this year's Gromit Unleashed initiative which saw one of the distinctive five-foot sculptures sit proudly outside the venue during the summer.

'Blazing Saddles', which was sponsored by the DoubleTree by Hilton, Bristol City Centre hotel, on Redcliffe Way certainly pulled in the crowds helping raise funds for Bristol Children's Hospital.

Part of the initiative saw each Gromit across the city become the 'Gromit of the day', so during Blazing Saddles' extra time in the spotlight, staff at the four-star venue put on a series of extra activities to help raise additional funds.

With raffles to win prizes, promotions and give-aways they managed to raise an extra £1,150 which they proudly handed over to Helen Haskell, corporate and events fundraiser for the Grand Appeal.

John Dowling, general manager at the hotel said: "It was fantastic to be part of the Gromit Unleashed initiative.

"Blazing Saddles was a big hit with our guests and those who came to see him as part of the trail. To have raised even more money for the Grand Appeal and to make this additional donation to a genuinely important cause is a great way to cap off what was a fantastic summer.

"Our own Gromit also helped raise the profile of the newly refurbished DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol as a leading brand on the city's vibrant hotel scene."
