In recent days, some of the big energy providers have announced price cuts in their charges, some of which will come into effect as early as next month – but if you'd like to take steps yourself to reduce your energy costs, the Bedminster Energy Group (BEG) is running an event on Saturday, 21 January 2012 which could help.

Bedminster people can get tips on reducing their energy costs this winter
BEG is a group of local volunteers who are part of the Sustainable Southville Project and looks at ways to save energy as a community and as individuals.
At the drop-in event on 21 January, the group will be highlighting the things that local people can do in their own homes to reduce the bills and help to keep the heat in.
They will demonstrate how to tackle draughts in the home as well as give out tips on insulation and energy-saving freebies.
The event is being held at Faithspace on Stackpool Road between 2.30pm and 4.30pm and all Bedminster and Southville residents are welcome.
Programme
• 2.30 Solar sightseeing
• 3.00 Draught busting demo
• 3.30 Tips on insulation
• 4.00 More draught busting
And through the afternoon:
• solar sightseeing
• energy saving freebies
